Scotch Naturals Top Coat, Base Coat and Macbeth's Dream Nail Polish Swatches, Review, Photos
The fact that someone like me doesn’t necessarily need to give up nail polish because there are safer alternatives out there now, is awesome! My Scotch Naturals guilt-free mani-pedi’s are almost too good to be true with an EWG score of just a 1! Since this nail polish is probably the most non-toxic that you are going to get (without having to go bare nailed for the rest of your life) I wasn’t too sure how well these would perform, but I actually was quite impressed but they’re certainly not perrrrrfect. But what is? Blogging in your pajamas or a 2 hour massage? Uh yes.
Scotch Naturals nail polishes dry insanely quick and are very easy to work with. Their polish glides across the nails very easily without streaking. The base coat makes for a nice and somewhat tacky surface for the first layer of nail polish to adhere to. The first coat of Macbeth’s Dream (a dark mulberry cream) dried entirely matte but once the 2nd and 3rd coat was applied it appeared semi matte. The use of the top coat aids in giving the nails a nice shiny and glossy finish that I usually desire in a polish. The top coat goes on a translucent milky white color but dries clear.
A great thing about these nail polishes are that they don’t have that strong nail polish scent that makes me nauseous now which is great. The consistency of the polish is somewhat on the thin side yet I find that since they’re not too thick it helped diminish smudging and made application very smooth.
I experienced minor tip wear within 3 days but this may be different for others since I use the tip of my nails to do more things than I should. But, my nails did not chip after a full out dish washing session right after painting them but I did experience a lot of chipping and major tip wear by day 5. At the 5 day mark it was definitely time for it to come off and it was pretty hard to remove  with just regular nail polish remover. I actually read that some have this problem with many water based nail polishes so I am considering purchasing the Scotch Naturals remover to see how that works.
I really think these polishes have the perfect consistency so I found them so easy to work with which meant less polish on my cuticle and skin area. I also love how quickly these polishes dry and how smooth and shiny they appear after applying the top coat. If you’re into the matte look you could also bypass the top coat and go matte if you’d like too. Macbeth’s Dream is definitely a deep fall color but I’d wear this color whenever because its a color that really looks nice on just about anyone, and I got tons of compliments on this everytime I wore it. Overall these polishes performed much better than I thought they would and I’m definitely looking forward to trying out more colors especially some of their bright and summery ones soon! The only downside is that they don’t last as long as I am used to polishes lasting on me. So I was removing and redoing my nails more often than I used to.
